This is a beautiful state park right along the Sonoma County coast. It is about 10 miles north of the city of Jenner. This fort is one of the oldest Russian settlements in North America. It dates back to 1812 and the wooden buildings date back to the 1840’s. The park is has some trails with sidewalks. The fort compound has about 5 different buildings including the commander house, group housing, and a store. The Russian settlers of about 300 grew grain and other food to support their settlements in Alaska.
The walk to the beach is a great place for a nice stroll, but be careful for the sneaker waves.
Dogs are allowed in the park most places besides the beach.
Let’s see where I am off to next.
